______________________________________________
The Center of Tourist, Business and Cultural Information with the Community Center of Belitsa was established in compliance with the aims and capabilities of the institution to engage the public in the sustainable development of the municipality of Belitsa: to improve the life standard and achieve economic and cultural prosperity of the population, to make tourism a priority sector of the municipality economy, to popularize the cultural heritage, the nature, lifestyle, traditions and business in the municipality. The TIC activities should support the Community Center according to the regulations in its Statute.
The TIC activities are intended to information users /institutions and people visiting Belitsa/ who are interested in the possibilities of tourism in the municipality as well as to the population developing or willing to develop business in the field of tourism. While the former customers need data of the sites that can be visited, the tourist camps and possibilities of complex services while the latter are interested in providing information about the requirements of the users to tourist services, which should be improved in cooperation with the community and municipal authorities Before and even after the TIS establishment, the Community Center was and continues to be the institution to connect the two groups of information users mentioned above by organizing a variety of initiatives aimed at popularizing the opportunities of developing tourism in the region and attracting more intensive tourist flows.
The Center of Tourist, Business and Cultural Information was established and approved by the General assembly of the Community Center members. It was registered by Decision 71/8 November 2000 of the District Court in Blagoevgrad as a supplement by "Tourist, business and cultural information” to the Funding Section of Decision 383/ 26 November 1997 and to Article 20 of the Community Center Statute. The TIC is situated in the building of the Museum of History and functions according to the aims, capacities and structure of the Community Center intended to provide the sustainable development of the municipality of Belitsa.
The idea of the Tourist Center was implemented together with the local community and mostly with the members of Community Center who entirely supported the establishment of the institution at a special session of the General Assembly and in compliance with the legal regulations of non-profit and non-governmental organizations. Our partners were from the municipal authorities, including the mayors of the bigger villages, schools, potential entrepreneurs in tourist business. We were consulted by the Pirin Tourist Forum Association of developing ecological tourism in Blagoevgrad and experts working for the Rila National Park.
The main difficulties are connected with the lack of sufficient funding, experience and coordination /even on the level of information exchange/ with similar centers and tourist institutions in the country and abroad.
The TIC achievements at the beginning are due to the enthusiasm of the Community Centre team, the support of the local community and the municipal authorities, the Pirin Tourist Forum Regional Association and the International Animal Welfare Organization FOUR PAWS /Chetiri lapi/, which at the same time began to build the Dancing Bears Park in Bulgaria and was looking for the partnership of the Community Center to accomplish activities to attract the mass media attention, put up the bears, provide students from the South-West University of Blagoevgrad as interpreters while meeting guests from abroad, etc.
